Up in the Air (Poem)

On a vast sand dune
With a perfect wind blowing
Like when we were kids
Trying to fly a kite up in the air

First try… it fell
Second try… it fell again
Third try… it went up for a while but dived into the sand
Fourth, fifth, sixth… endless trials

Then, a friend came to me
He said “I know some secret tips”
We tried together, hand in hand
To release the kite up in the air

It fell again, a couple of times
But for the fifth time, it stayed in the air
With some turbulence here and there
It swam up the limitless sky

Once in the air, higher than you’d ever imagined
It’s flying so stable, calmly and effortlessly
With some aid along with a tenacious mind
You can reach wherever you want to be

“Doubt kills more dreams than failure ever will.”

Suzy Kassem, American Writer
