April in Chicago (Poem)

I know you are hurt
Wishing to help ease the pain you are in
I know there is no cure
Except for time for you to earn wisdom

When we were walking together on a cold, windy day
It started raining
We kept walking without a word
To the place we were heading to

The rain changed into snow
Pitiless winds reminded us how wet we were with every blow
We kept walking, quietly
As if we were drenched with your tears falling from the sky

By the time we reached the destination
We were soaking wet and worn, together
We had consumed a slice of your sadness, together
For you to find the sun to warm yourself, sooner
